Keeps the Music Playing
Dear Friends,
Shriver Hall Concert Series invites you to join us for our 44th season of presenting
the world’s greatest music performed by the greatest artists from all over the world.
On the eight-concert subscription series, England’s Belcea Quartet, Japan’s Midori, The
Czech Republic’s Magdalena Kožená, Austria’s Hagen Quartet, America’s
Piffaro, and Israel’s Inon Barnatan make
their Series debuts. And returning to the Shriver stage by audience request are America’s
Emanuel Ax, Juilliard String Quartet, Yefim Bronfman, and
Alisa Weilerstein.
The Series’ commitment to diverse audiences and “rising star” performers continues
with our hugely successful free ‘Discovery Series’ in collaboration with the Baltimore
Museum of Art. The Saturday afternoon concerts will feature The Czech Republic’s Pavel
Haas Quartet, American pianist Christopher Taylor, French cellist Jean-Guihen Queryas
and pianist Alexandre Tharaud, and—a Series tradition—the winner of this year’s Yale
Gordon Competition at The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University.
This spectacular international menu of music and artists will be illuminated by our
two lecture series—The Albert I. Mendeloff Memorial Lectures, which precede each
subscription concert, and the Annual Ray Sprenkle Lectures, probably Baltimore’s most
popular enlightening and entertaining music lectures.
As we end the 43rd and begin the 44th season, we thank all of our friends who help to
make the Series one of the most successful in the country and invite you to continue
with us as Shriver Hall Concert Series Keeps the Music Playing.
