on George Li's Kennedy Center Debut

Posted by: sjacobsohn

I had the distinct pleasure of hearing 16 year-old pianist George Li make his Kennedy Center Debut on Tuesday night. Winner of the Young Concert Artists International Competition, and a Gilmore Young Artist Award Recipient, he is a truly special young musician whose talent and career are nothing short of spectacular. Click here for a link to a Washington Post review of Mr. Li's Kennedy Center recital. Also, mark your calendars - Mr. Li will be presented on Shriver Hall Concert Series FREE 'Discovery Series' at the BMA on February 11, 2012 or click here to reserve your seats!

Tetzlaff and Vogt Debut

Posted by: sjacobsohn

We are delighted and excited to be presenting Christian Tetzlaff and Lars Vogt in their Series Debut recital later this weekend. Tetzlaff has long been one of my personal favorites - a living legend - for his technical perfection, interpretive depth, and refined purity of purpose. With him there is never a moment of histrionics - he is the rare musician for whom technique is purely a tool that he dispenses only for the purpose of making music with the composer's intentions at the heart of every interpretation. Lars Vogt is an equally impressive pianist. Their October 30 recital should be one of the rare events that you remember for a long, long time - when two masters come together and deliver exceptional music-making that transcends the ordinary and approaches the sublime. But don't take my word for it! Read a review (here) from the opening concert of their current tour last weekend at Spivey Hall in Atlanta - not to be confused with Shriver Hall! There are still seats left - so be sure to order your tickets today.
